Conor McAneney, placekicker for the Florida State University Seminoles football team, was arrested on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[1][2]
McAneney faces two third-degree felony charges -- battery on a law enforcement officer with a $2,000 bond and resisting an officer with violence with a $500 bond -- along with a misdemeanor trespassing charge carrying a $250 bond, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office records.[1][2][3]
His booking photograph shows a cut on his lip and a scratch under his right eye.[1][2]
Florida State coach Mike Norvell suspended McAneney indefinitely from all team activities, 247Sports reported.[1][4]
The arrest occurred during the university's spring break. Spring football practices had been paused and are scheduled to resume on Thursday, April 24.[1]
McAneney, from Dublin, Ireland, transferred to Florida State from Quincy University, an NCAA Division II program in Illinois, prior to the 2025 season.[4][5] At Quincy in 2024, he converted 7 of 10 field-goal attempts, with a longest make of 45 yards.[6]
The Seminoles compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference.[5]
