Pro Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, who played cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1987 to 1996, called for the team to stop waiting on quarterback Aaron Rodgers amid uncertainty about his future plans.[1][2]
Aaron Rodgers, a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player (2011, 2014, 2020, 2021), spent the first 18 seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers from 2005 to 2022 before joining the New York Jets ahead of the 2023 season.[3][4]
Woodson expressed frustration on The Rich Eisen Show, saying, "Is he gonna play? Listen, I get kinda tired of it," and added, "Listen, if he's gonna play, say he's gonna play, he's gonna come back. And the team shouldn't wait for Aaron Rodgers. They need to move forward."
The NFL league year began on March 12, 2025, with the 2025 NFL Draft scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.[5][6]
The Steelers, coached by Mike Tomlin since 2007, currently have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in their quarterback room following Wilson's one-year signing in March 2024 and Fields' acquisition later that year.[7][8]
Woodson also referenced former Packers quarterback Brett Favre's prolonged retirement indecision, noting a pattern with ex-Green Bay signal-callers.
