Atlanta Locks Up London on Four-Year, $141M Extension
The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $141 million with wide receiver Drake London, according to ESPN, securing the 24-year-old as one of the cornerstones of the franchise's offensive rebuild. The deal includes $100 million guaranteed and can reach $150 million through incentives. At $35.25 million per year, London becomes the third-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.
Only Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who signed a $168.8 million extension after helping Seattle win Super Bowl LX, and Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who agreed to a $161 million deal in March 2025, carry higher annual receiver salaries than London. The extension removes uncertainty over London's fifth-year option, which would have governed his status for the upcoming season absent a new agreement.
London, a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of USC, has compiled 309 receptions for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns across four seasons in Atlanta. His most productive campaign came in 2024, when he caught 100 of 158 targets for a career-high 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns operating as the primary option for quarterback Kirk Cousins. Even after Cousins ceded the starting role to Michael Penix Jr., London finished within reach of 1,000 receiving yards for that season.
The Falcons face significant decisions on multiple fronts as they build toward 2026. Penix, who partially tore his ACL last season, remains on the roster alongside newly signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, acquired from the Miami Dolphins, setting up a training camp competition for the starting job. Whoever emerges will inherit a receiving corps that also includes tight end Kyle Pitts Sr., who will play the season under the franchise tag. Running back Bijan Robinson, whose fifth-year option for the 2027 season has already been picked up by the club, is also expected to be a candidate for a major extension after leading the NFL with 2,298 scrimmage yards last season - a performance that earned him his first All-Pro selection. The front office is led by former Falcons quarterback and current President of Football Matt Ryan.
